Apple's iOS 8 will seek to address the complaints of iPhone and iPad users from the current iOS 7. This is where the problem lies. Holes in the iOS are often opportunities for third party apps to address. Once Apple addresses the loopholes, it will eventually end up killing the need for third party applications. The same will happen once the company releases the next iOS.

According to Business Insider, what Apple considers as most innovative features in the iOS 8 can render specific apps obsolete. Here are the top apps endangered by the new and improved features in the iOS 8.

WhatsApp and Snapchat

The iOS 8 will bring new functions in the Messaging feature. Users will be able to send bigger multimedia messages including their location. These features have been staples in Snapchat and WhatsApp. In fact, WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum said in his tweet: "very flattering to see Apple 'borrow' numerous WhatsApp features into iMessage."

Dropbox and Google Drive

One of the most loudly received improvements during the Worldwide Developer Conference was the iCloud Drive. Users will now be able to access their files through a cloud file system across Apple devices similar to how Google Drive and Dropbox store and provide files. People can also edit their photos or documents online through the platform's productivity suite. Apple's iCloud Drive starts with $0.99 a month for 20GB.

Despite Apple's attempt to offer innovative features in the iOS 8, TIME pointed out that some of these apps or functions have long been available under Android. Although Apple guarantees its own imprint on the features, the increasing similarities between the two mobile operating systems will turn the competition stiffer. It can also make a difference on the adoption rate. According to TIME some of the features on the iOS 8 similar to Android include: predictive keyboard, interactive notifications and notification support among others.

Google will hold its I/O conferene later this month where it is expected to unveil details of its upcoming mobile OS.
