"The Maze Runner" by James Dashner toppled its competition in the best-selling children's series category of the New York Times for the week of Sept. 28, 2014. The other series that trailed after "The Maze Runner" include popular books such as "Divergent" by Veronica Roth and "I Am Number Four" by Pittacus Lore. According to New York Times, for the week of Sept. 28, 2014, author James Dashner and his book "The Maze Runner" won first place in its list of the top children's series. The book rankings reflect the sales for the week ending Sept. 13, 2014. Check out the other books listed below to see if your favourites are included in it.

Top 5 Children's Series Best Sellers:

1. "The Maze Runner" by James Dashner (Ages 12 and up) - According to Dashner's official website, "The Maze Runner" is about a boy named Thomas who has lost his memory, except for his name. He woke up and found himself in a lift which opened to a place called the Glade. The series explores the discovery of various secrets including those within Thomas.

2. "Divergent" by Veronica Roth (Ages 14 and up) - This series is about Beatrice "Tris" Prior who lives in dystopian Chicago which has five different factions namely, Candor, Amity, Erudite, Dauntless and Abnegation. She struggles to belong in one faction because she has other characteristics that make it difficult for her to stay in one category.

3. "Giver Quartet" by Lois Lowry (Ages 12 to 18) - A series of books including "The Giver," "Gathering Blue," "Messenger" and "Son" featuring characters named Jonas, Water Claire, Kira and Matty.

4. "I Am Number Four" by Pittacus Lore (Ages 14 to 17) - According to Lore's official website, "I Am Number Four" is about John a.k.a. Number Four who is an alien from the Planet Lorien. He is being hunted down by the Mogadorians, along with Number Five, Six, Seven, Eight and Nine. Numbers One, Two and Three have already been captured and killed.

5. "Captain Underpants" by Dav Pilkey (Ages 7 to 10) - Pilkey's children's series is about George, Harold, Melvin Sneedly, Captain Underpants and the Turbo Toilet 2000.

These are the Top 5 books that made it to the best sellers list of NY Times under the Children's Series category for the week of Sept. 28, 2014. It's interesting to note that the top 4 books in the list have been made into movies already. The other books that made the Top 10 list of best-selling Children's Series for the week of Sept. 28, 2014 include "Mickey Bolitar" by Harlan Coben (Top 6), "Percy Jackson & The Olympians" by Rick Riordan (Top 7), "Throne Of Glass" by Sarah J.
