Samsung's announcement of the Galaxy Note 4 last September 3 at the IFA 2014 in Berlin has got many people excited over its features. Rave reviews of the Note 4 and its brother, the Galaxy Note Edge, have been making the rounds because of the power the new features bring into the highly popular Note series. Have a look at some of its most outstanding features.

The Most Powerful Display in the Market

One of the most notable features that immediately jump out from Samsung's official page for the Galaxy Note 4 is the 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display. The size has not changed, but the screen is much more powerful than other screens in the market. It comes with a whopping screen resolution of 2560x1440 px and a pixel density of 518 ppi. According to GSMArena, this is even better than the crisp AMOLED screens of the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Tab S.

GSMArena also quoted DisplayMate's test as saying the Note 4 has the best display in the market today. The screen performed well in DisplayMate's test, and it boasts power efficiency as well, being 14% more power efficient than previous Note models and 40% less power-consuming than the screens of competitors Sony Xperia Z2 and the HTC One, which both use 1080p panels.

TechRadar and Stuff.tv add that Samsung has included adaptive display to this powerhouse screen. This adjusts the screen light based on ambient lighting, giving users optimum viewing experience in any situation.

Power Under the Hood

Samsung did not skimp on power either, as the Galaxy Note 4 has impressive features under the hood. The Galaxy Note 4 product page on Samsung's website lists the key specs under the hood: it either has the 2.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, or a 1.9 GHz octa-core (1.9 GHz Quad + 1.3 GHz Quad-core) processor depending on the country and carrier. The Note 4 will also have the following specs:

ñ Android KitKat 4.4 out of the box

ñ 32 GB internal memory with 3 GB RAM

ñ microSD support up to 64 GB (although TechRadar reports that the internal memory is 64 GB, with microSD support of up to 128 GB)

ñ 4G LTE Category 4 or 6 (varies depending on the country and carrier as well)

ñ 16 MP Smart OIS main camera and a 3.7 MP + F1.9 front-facing camera

ñ 3220 mAh fast-charging battery

ñ Improved S-Pen (hovering 15mm; pressure level 2,048)

According to Stuff.tv, the Snapdragon 805 processor is expected to make the device run very smoothly while being power-efficient. This gives the battery longer life than expected given the Note 4's monster screen.

Premium Look

While the Note 4 doesn't look too far off from its predecessors, it does improve on a few features. The Note's faux leather back is back, and it feels more premium than that of the Note 3, being softer and allowing better grip. Reports also noted that it retains the weight of the Note 3, making it lightweight despite its improved look.

The Note 4 also retains some features found in the Galaxy S5. The heart rate monitor stays below the camera at the back of the unit, while the home button fingerprint scanner is also present in the Note 4.

Release Expected on October 2014

Samsung released a new ad which reveals the release happen in October 2014. This means the Apple iPhone 6 gets at least a couple of weeks ahead of the Note 4.

The ad, which is currently running in the US and posted on Samsung's YouTube channel, takes a dig at Apple for imitiating them with the iPhone 6, citing different publications and social media posts. The ad ends with the announcement "The Next Big Thing Is Here" and October 2014 below.
