Veteran point guard Tony Parker wants to play with the San Antonio Spurs until he’s 38 years old, or for five more years, the French player said in a recent interview. The four-time NBA champion also stated that he expects to be healthier in the upcoming season especially as he struggled with injuries last season.

"The Spurs know I want to play until I'm 38," Parker said to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports. "That will be 20 seasons for me. That's my goal. This year is No. 15. And if I'm lucky enough and I'm healthy, hopefully I can play 20 seasons and then I'll be ready to retire."

Parker signed a three-year $43.3 million contract extension with the Spurs in August last year. Parker, who was picked as the 28th overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, has played for San Antonio in all of his NBA career and the French point guard stated that he wants to retire as a Spur, like Tim Duncan, David Robinson and Manu Ginobili.

In the same interview, Parker also said that he asked former NBA player Steve Nash, who recently retired from the league and now a consultant for the Golden State Warriors, about his conditioning during the latter part of his NBA career.

"The main thing I learned is to do the routine every day. When you're young you want to go out and play right away. But it doesn't happen like that for me anymore. You have to make sure that you do all the exercises even when you feel good,” Parker said about his talk with Nash.

Parker, who will be entering his 15th NBA season, averaged 14.4 points, the lowest since his rookie year, 1.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists last season. Parker has helped the Spurs win four NBA championships, in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014.
