The advent of current gen PS4 and Xbox One consoles have pretty much sounded the death knell for new content on their last-gen PS3 and Xbox 360 counterparts. It's becoming increasingly rare for a newly announced game to be released on the last-gen consoles. Nevertheless, the recently-announced reincarnation of the long-running "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater" franchise will be released on Xbox 360 and PS3 alongside the PS4 and Xbox One versions.

However, there are strong indications that the last-gen version of "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5" won't be the same as the current-gen console versions. While the publisher Activision has neither confirmed nor denied this news, compelling evidence indicates that the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions may not ship with the much-touted multiplayer component. Interestingly, the last-gen version is available for $40, which is $20 less than the PS4 and Xbox One version that retails for the standard $60 sticker price.

These prices are displayed on the Amazon listing for "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5," where the $20 difference between the current and last-gen console versions is clearly apparent. Activision has already confirmed with Gamespot that these prices are correct and not due to a listing error. However, the publisher refused to divulge any further details. The "Pro Skater 5" maker has refused to discuss or either confirm or deny the omission of the multiplayer component in the cheaper PS3 as well as Xbox 360 version.

Furthermore, MCV UK notes that the PS3 and Xbox 360 version of the game will be restricted to GAME retail outlets in the UK. Interestingly, the retailer's press release states, that the online multiplayer experience comes only for "for those with PS4 and Xbox One consoles." The multiplayer component allows players to partake in online skate sessions and challenge other players across the world.

Moreover, the UK-based retail outlet's website listing, as well as that of the US-based Gamestop, fails to mention multiplayer capability in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. Although officially unconfirmed, this consistent omission of multiplayer feature from the product listing may be a sign that the cheaper last-gen console versions of "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5" are bereft of multiplayer component. Meanwhile, the game doesn't have a release date either. Activision has promised to reveal the same "in the upcoming weeks."
