Broadway's biggest stars, creators and enthusiasts gathered at the Radio City Music Hall last June 9 in New York to witness the victors of the 67th annual Tony Awards.

The night's top winner "Kinky Boots" bagged six Tonys including the most coveted Best Musical award. Other winners were Matilda the Musical" and "Pippin" with four awards each, and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" and "The Nance" winning three awards each.

Kinky Boot's music and lyrics was penned by pop superstar Cyndi Lauper, which also won the Best Original Score. Lauper became emotional when she accepted her first Tony award. "I want to thank Broadway for welcoming me," she said.

Hosted by "How I Met Your Mother" actor, Neil Patrick Harris, this year's Tony Awards was up by 20 percent in viewership, the highest-watched Tonys since 2009, according to CBS. The CBS-produced awards show will continue to air in the network until 2018.

Meanwhile, Harris garnered positive reviews and praises for his hosting performance. LA Times' theater critic, Charles McNulty, jokingly proposed to CBS to make a lifetime contract for Neil Patrick Harris. This was his fourth time to host the Tony Awards.

Former heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson, appeared with Harris during the opening medley dancing with cheerleaders and making visual jokes about ear biting. Tyson also had his stint doing a one-man Broadway show last spring.
