Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott had posed for a selfie with a former "Big Brother" contestant the night before he left Canberra. He waved one last goodbye to RAAF members at the Fairbairn base before leaving on an RAAF plane.

Abbott had dinner with his daughter Louise and her boyfriend at Ottoman Cuisine in Canberra’s suburb of Barton on Thursday night. Abbott and his party enjoyed a three-course meal during the stay for two hours and a half at the Turkish restaurant.

Diners at the restaurant requested the former Australian PM to pose for selfies. One of the ones who took a selfie with Abbott was Jason Roses, a former "Big Brother Australia" star who appeared on the reality show's 2014 series. The 27-year-old real estate agent told News Corp Australia that he had asked Abbott if he would mind taking a selfie with him.

Abbott was prompt to stand up from his table and pose for a selfie with Roses. The former PM asked his name and asked him about his plans for the night. Roses told Abbott he hoped he was well and everything was OK. “I’m well,” Abbott replied as they took the selfie together.

According to Roses, Abbott was “very polite” even though he looked “very tired.” “About 10 people went up throughout the night and asked him for a selfie, he was very obliging,” Roses said.

The Guardian’s David Marr called Abbott “a unique man and a unique failure.” According to him, Abbott is “gone and barely missed.” “He leaves behind a band of ultra conservatives distraught at his fall,” one of Australia’s most influential commentators wrote. “They imagined an Australia free of everything from wind turbines to lesbian offspring. But this has all been plucked away from them.”
