“Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon accidentally injured his hand at his Manhattan apartment on Thursday, prompting NBC to cancel taping on Friday. The late night presenter was rushed to the hospital after a bad fall.

"Tripped and caught my fall (good thing)! Ring caught on side of table almost ripped my finger off (bad thing)," Fallon tweeted on Friday. Then on Saturday, he told his followers he’s totally fine and thanked them. The host also tweeted the image of his injured hand. According to NBC, the show had already planned a two week hiatus starting on Monday.

Before the accident, CBS reports that he dined at Scalinatella (one of his favourite restaurants) in New York. He was even spotted posing for pictures with fans. Restaurant worker Diego told CBS even he didn’t know what exactly happened to Fallon, verifying that food or alcohol was not the reason why the host was sent to hospital.

The worker added the host does not usually drink too much alcohol. A glass or a half is enough to satisfy him.

“Tonight Show” official Twitter account announced the cancellation of the taping, informing the fans the host is fine and the network would be airing a repeat. Instead of featuring scheduled guests Benicio del Toro, "True Detective" star Taylor Kitsch and magicians Penn and Teller, NBC broadcasted the May 22 episode, where Sting, Kevin Connolly and Kevin Delaney guest starred. This week, “Ted 2” star Seth MacFalane appeared on the show, showing off his Liam Neeson impression.

The NBC host married Nancy Juvonen in December 2007 and they have 22-month-old Winnie and five-month-old Frances. Both kids were born via surrogate.

Fallon previously told Parents Magazine he worked hard to let Frances learn the first word “Dada.” "I loved reading to Winnie, and at the time I came up with the book it was important to me that her first word be ‘Dada,’” he said.

When he was interviewed by TV Guide, he confessed that his eldest daughter Winne first learnt the word "Mama." This is the reason why he was eager to do anything to let Frances learned the word "Dada."

The NBC host is currently promoting his new book titled “Your Baby’s First Word Would Be Dada.”
