After the “Tomb Raider” reboot won fans over, anticipation for its sequel “Rise of the Tom Raider” was at an all-time high. With the sequel making its way to the Xbox One first, publishers Crystal Dynamics, Square Enix and developer Simutronics have announced a new mobile “Tomb Raider” spin-off for iOS and Android devices called “Lara Croft: Relic Run.”

Given its title, “Lara Croft: Relic Run” is obviously an infinite runner similar to other infinite runners before it like the “Temple Run” games. As expected with these types of games, players will have to swipe in various directions to slide, jump and move to the sides, while also collecting tokens that can be used to gather unlockables.

However, Pocket Gamer has stated that there will be quite a few things that will make “Relic Run” a bit different from “Temple Run,” thanks to a few action-packed scenes that fans will be able to participate in. At a given time, Lara Croft will be able to shoot enemies before they get the chance to hurt her, and vehicles will also be around for Lara to take advantage of and go through some slow motion set pieces. Also confirmed is one of Lara’s oldest enemies from the original “Tomb Raider” games who will be making an appearance in the game, the T-Rex.

While the game is still being developed, the Tomb Raider blog confirmed that the mobile game has soft launched in the Netherlands. The developers are currently encouraging Dutch fans to try out the game so they can see if there are any kinks in the game that need to be worked on before the title gets an official worldwide release date.

No release date has been given for “Lara Croft: Relic Run,” though given that the game had a soft launch already, it shouldn’t take too long for the “Tomb Raider” mobile game to hit online stores. The title will apparently be free-to-play like most games of the infinite runner genre and will be available for iOS and Android devices as well as the Windows 8 Phone.
