Award winning actor Tom Hanks has a huge chance of winning an Oscar again but also had some bad news of learning he has type 2 diabetes.

The Telegraph UK reports that the 57-year-old actor must have gotten the disease due to his need to lose and gain weight on and off for various roles according to doctors. It was during his interview with a late night show that he shared he was recently diagnosed of Type 2 diabetes.

It can be recalled how he has decided to transform his own body to play various roles in his career run. Doing such certainly has its own rewards like letting him earn two Oscars for Best Actor but it also has its own consequences that put his own health at risk.

Tom Hanks is not the very first celebrity who became open with having such a disease. Here are some of them:

Award winning actress Halle Berry was discovered with type 1 diabetes when she was just 22 years old. She even went through coma that lasted for almost a week. However, there are some doctors who said that it is type 2 diabetes that the actress most likely has.

"American Idol" judge Randy Jackson had a weight that went almost beyond 300 pounds way back in 2002. After having symptoms that are similar to that of a flu, he was later discovered to have diabetes. His high blood sugar shot up to 500 while the normal ranges from 80 to 120 only.

CNN anchor Larry King has been taking medication for his diabetes since year 1995. He shared with a magazine that he suffered no symptoms before his diagnosis.

Singer Chaka Khan went through liquid a diet regimen composed of a great deal of liquid shakes for months then followed by a vegetarian diet. She had a weight loss of 60 pounds and since her diagnosis in 2011 has been able to keep the disease under control.

As for Tom Hanks, doctors advise that the actor needs to be keen with what he eats and has to exercise regularly.
