Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise is currently dealing with this new and unexpected reality.

Ever since actress Katie Holmes filed for divorce and sole custody of their 6-year old daughter Suri last June, the 50-year old actor has been presented an exceptional challenge in terms of seeing his daughter and spending time with her as well as living a single life from now on.

According to reports, Tom Cruise has been based in London since mid-August where the actor is busy filming for his upcoming sci-fi action film "All You Need Is Kill" and he has not seen Suri for almost two months now. "I've got to see her," an emotional Cruise told a friend recently. "I miss her," the heartbroken father added.

The "Mission Impossible" star is obviously heart broken over the separation from his daughter Suri who is now based full time in New York City with her 33-year old mother Katie Holmes. The "Dawson's Creek" actress enrolled the little girl in Manhattan's private Avenues school.

Even though they live far apart from each other, the fresh first-grader is still a fixture in her father's life as they speak several times a day.

"I can tell you that I haven't had a meeting with Tom that was not interrupted by a phone call with his daughter," a friend of the actor, screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie, shared.

"His heart is broken. He misses his little girl and works very hard at parenting," McQuarrie added. Holmes and Cruise are reportedly working out how to raise Suri amicably. "He loves his kid and he's going to be a loving presence in her life as long as he lives," McQuarrie said.

Meanwhile, Tom Cruise has been very busy working on his movies that he had committed to before Katie Holmes filed for divorce. On the other hand, Katie Holmes has buried herself with several work projects that include a makeup endorsement, a Broadway show and the launch of her new fashion line "Holmes & Yang" after the divorce has been finalized.
