It's official now that TLC has cancelled its popular reality show which is about child beauty show contestant 'Honey Boo Boo' and her life and family. The network was already prepared with another season of the show which was scheduled to start by end of the year.

The channel has made the big announcement citing the health and welfare of the children in its cast. However, the decision is taken amidst the reports that Honey Boo Boo's mother June Shannon is dating a criminal charged with child molestation, as told by Enews.

The show took birth when Alana Thompson aka Honey Boo Boo was recognized and applauded in TlC's other show 'Toddlers & Tiaras' where she was one of the beauty contestant. Honey Boo Boo became the instant hit among the viewers due to her witty and catchy remarks and soon got her own show.

The 9-years old Alana's show continued to enjoy the popularity and was among the top shows of TLC. However, the show always attracted some negative attention as well due to critics blaming her mother being too pushy and exploiting the childhood for money and fame, as told by the Hype. She is being blamed for filling her children with junk food and 'go-go juice' which is a lethal combination of Mountain Dew and Red Bull.

Latest controversy which hit the show was the dating rumors between the mother June Shannon and Mark Anthony McDaniel, a man who served 10 years in prison after being convicted of aggravated child molestation in 2004 and who is a registered sex offender, reported by CNN.

The show's future became quite bleak once these rumors started floating around. The show also starred Alana Thompson's three older sisters and her dad, Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson. The last season wrapped up in August this year followed by the separation of the child star's parents. At that time, the show enjoyed 1.8 million viewers.

Meanwhile, Mama June took to Facebook page of her daughter to explain herself. She admitted that she dated the convict 10 years ago but would never be back with him.

In a recent TV interview with Dr Drew on HLN, the child star appeared distracted and frustrated due to constant media attention. When quizzed whether she liked to be on TV, she pretended to be asleep while snoring loudly. When prompted by her mother, she just blurted no. "Fans come up to me and I hate it," commented the young kid.
