Penile Agenisis is the topic of a TLC documentary on June 11. In the docu, a 40-year-old Briton who was born without a penis shares how he managed to have sex with 100 women.

Andrew Wardle is one of the men who was affected by the condition, which affects 1 in every 30 million baby boys. He has testicles. Wardle decided to come out and share about his medical condition because he is tired of living a lie, reports Metro.

According to Altpenis.com, the condition was first reported in 1853. The baby had scrotum, testes and testicular function. Babies born with Penile Agenesis have normal chromosomal makeup and often have no other abnormalities, except for the lack of penis.

To address the condition, doctors recommend Scotal Flap Phallosplasty, or SFP, a surgical procedure that creates a temporary penis in infants or young boys to prevent complex, prolonged and more invasive operations. SFP provides the male child suffering from the condition satisfactory psychosexual development of children with aphallia. If there is no corrective surgery, the baby boy would urinate through the rectum or the creation of a uretha opening on the perineum, located between the anus and the scrotum.

Wardle’s biological mother, who was 17 when she gave birth to him, had baby Andrew adopted by a Welsh couple because she was “horrified” by his condition, reports Huffington Post. Doctors built a tube from his bladder so young Andrew could urinate normally, that is in a standing position.

When the boy reaches puberty, other techniques such as the Abdominal Flap Phallosplasty, Radial Forearm Free Flap Phalloplasty and Fibula Free Flap Phalloplasty could still be done. The other alternative, because of the difficulty of creating a penis from nothing, is to create a vagina. However, they warn that there is no study on the impact of gender reassignment on the patient’s long-term physiological and psychological makeup.

The TLC docu, titled “The Man With No Penis” has Wardle telling his girlfriend of his rare medical condition. It would also discuss the surgical alternatives available to Wardle.

The docu hints that Wardle managed to have sex despite lacking a penis by using a prosthetic male organ and insisting that the sexual encounter be done in total darkness and the woman does not touch his “penis.” TLC reports that Wardle had previously shared his condition a few times with his sexual partners and in one instance, the woman punched him in the face after learning what really happened between them.

“I used my charm and insecurities to get them into bed. Many of my girlfriends became best friends rather than lovers,” Wardle shared. If he has surgeries, to be paid for by the National Health Service, or NHS, Wardle admits being terrified by the prospect of fatherhood because “I’ve lived my entire life thinking that I’ll never be a dad.”

Skin would be grafted from Wardle’s body to create a penis and fat from his forearm would be used for the organ to function. To achieve an erection, he would have to use a pump to force blood into his new penis. Physiologically, he could father a child the natural way since Wardle’s testicles are normal and functioning.
