The European press tour for Apple has already begun. Although CEO Tim Cook's aim was to promote the new iPad Pro, both the press and consumers in attendance couldn’t help but notice shots were fired against Microsoft's Surface Book.

It’s become clear the feud between Apple and Microsoft continues to heat-up, especially after the stunt the Redmond-based tech giant pulled this September.

Microsoft made an appearance at the Apple's launch event for the iPad Pro and the iPhone 6s. Microsoft's Panos Panay boldly claimed the Surface Book is far superior to the MacBook Pro. Still, Cook took it upon himself to tell Trinity College students in Dublin the Cupertino company's relationship with Microsoft is "really good."

It can’t be denied he didn’t mince words when describing his rival's latest hybrid laplet, however.

"It is a product that tries too hard to do too much!" Cook said, according to Mashable. "It is trying to be a tablet and a notebook. It really succeeds at being neither! It is sort of diluted!"

At the time, outlets had thought Cook described the product as "deluded," but later corrected their reports and made corrections to Cook's statement.

Microsoft's Surface Book is a laptop with a removable screen that transforms the device into a quasi-tablet. Although the product recently is making waves among consumers, Cook is convinced consumers have no reason to buy PCs, according to Telegraph.

"I only travel now with an iPad Pro and an iPhone," Cook added. "That is it!"

Apple's iPad sales may have experienced a bit of a decline these past couple of years, but the Cupertino-based tech company is back on the tablet map with the iPad Pro. That said, Cook is convinced iPad sales will grow after stalling, making way for its 5.5-inch iPhone Plus models that encroach on the territory of its 7.9-inch iPad Mini.

Apple and Microsoft might be on speaking terms within the industry, but consumers won’t be mistaken if they feel these two tech giants aren’t the best of friends.
