Breaking up with his girlfriend of almost three years proved to be very brutal for pro-golfer Tiger Woods. On Sunday, he and Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn publicly announced that they were parting ways, citing “hectic schedules” as the reason for calling it quits. Woods shared a personal confession Tuesday night, saying that he has not slept since then.

In an interview at TPC Sawgrass ahead of the 2015 Players Championship, Woods revealed that his personal life affected his game while he was preparing for the major tournament, saying that even if he and Vonn mutually agreed to end their relationship, his emotional and mental states are still not in the best place as of the moment. "It is tough, there's no doubt. I'm not gonna lie about that," he said as quoted by the Huffington Post.

The 39-year-old golfer and his now former girlfriend jointly announced their breakup on Sunday, which also happened to be the day of his father’s ninth death anniversary. Woods revealed that it only made things more daunting to him, that the breakup happened on the time of year that was really hard for him. “I haven't slept. These three days, May 3rd and through the 5th, today, are just brutal on me,” he shared, via Yahoo! News.

In his website, Woods stated that he has “great admiration, respect and love for Lindsey,” and that he will always cherish their time together. He added that Vonn had been amazing to his family, especially his kids from ex-wife Elin Nordegren, Sam and Charlie. The 30-year-old skier also said in her statement that even if she and Woods had been happy together, they had to eventually mutually decide to stop dating because they both lead “incredibly hectic lives” that resulted to a lot of time apart. Vonn, however, said that Woods and his family will always hold a special place in her heart.

Meanwhile, Woods is prepping himself for the golf championship games to be held in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. According to Golf.com, Woods took a leave of absence to work on his game in February following his not-so-impressive beginning to his 2015 season, where golf fanatics thought he was already losing his touch after he missed the cut at the Phoenix Open and withdrew from the Farmers Insurance Open. However, the four-time Masters champion revealed that this time, he has had good practices and is rediscovering his game, saying that he has made “huge strides” since then.
