Legendary professional golfer Tiger Woods laughed off the recent estimation of the 20-ish world no. 1Rory McIlroy that Woods and compatriot Phil Mickelson are already in the back nine of their careers. Woods who is turning 39 in December took in stride the comments made about him.

"They're just getting older. Phil's 43 or whatever, and Tiger's nearly 40. So they're getting into the sort of last few holes of their careers, and that's what happens," McIlroy said via ESPN.

On Monday, Woods said that the remark was funny at a news conference to promote his yearly golf tournament at the Isleworth Country Club where he announced title sponsor Hero for his Wold Challenge on December 4-7. He even joked that Mickelson has less holes to play than him because he is older than him. He also added that it is a reality that they are really getting older.

Woods is nearing his 20th season on tour soon and according to the golfer himself, ageing is part of the process. He reminisced that when he first joined a tour, he used to see some of the players and their kids and now he is already playing with those kids.

Last Week, when the world no. 1 McIlroy asked if he sensed that there was changing of the guard given that Mickelson and Woods failed to qualify for the Tour Championship since 1992, he acknowledged Wood's injuries and he expects him to be back in the Tour Championship once he recuperates. He also highlighted that Mickelson almost toppled him last month at the US PGA Championship, where the 44-year-old finished second. McIlroy said that aging makes it harder to play and he can only talk about it 20 years from now.

Meanwhile, Tiger Woods still doesn't have a swing coach but he revealed that he isn't looking for a new coach right now. Woods is apparently not in a hurry to have a new coach rather, he is focused on getting physically stronger, faster, better and more explosive for his upcoming tournaments.
