Tesla Motors has inaugurated a new store at Church Street in Richmond, Melbourne. This is Tesla’s third exclusive store in Australia.

Sprawled across an area of 2,500 square metres, the two-storey building is laced with embellished depth of art to capture Tesla’s target audience. An option for test driving the Model S Car and placing the order will be featured in this new store.

The showroom includes a customer lounge and four supercharging stations for the convenience of new and existing Tesla customers. The superchargers can charge the cars with 80 percent power in 40 minutes and 100 percent in 75 minutes. A fully charged Tesla car has a range of just over 500 kilometres.

The new showroom will allow the customers to configure their new favourite Tesla models. The customers can have a complete touch and feel experience of all the diverse array of materials housed in the showroom. It will also serve as a service centre.

Speaking to Financial Review, Tesla representative Heath Walker said that the brand was confident of its plans to connect Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra by the end of the year. Tesla aims to create an east coast recharging network for the drivers.

Tesla has already filled the USA with its supercharger networks. The brand initially opted for selling cars via its website for venturing into Australia. Tesla opened its first retail store and supercharge centre at Herbert Street, St Leonards in Sydney. For the second store, the brand had selected a luxurious spot inside the Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne.

Other than the existing standalone stores, Tesla’s business expansion model also includes setting up of destination chargers at various locations across the country at hotels and car parks. In Australia, Tesla has set up ten destination charging stations including at Leongatha in South Gippsland, at Westfield Chatswood, at the Park Hyatt in Sydney, at Dinner Plain on the Great Alpine Road and in Canberra and at Port Macquarie.

Tesla has declared its Australia-wide partnership with Secure Parking to lease electric vehicle spots in local car parks, CyberShack reported. Tesla will offer free recharging facility to the Model S owners at the four superchargers in Richmond.
