Terry Crews got candid talking about his sex life during an interview about the importance of intimacy in a marriage. However, unlike any other married couples, the actor revealed how sex for him is not the basis of a strong marriage. Instead, it’s the absence of sex that helps.

Crews admitted during a Huffington Post Live interview that abstaining from sex helped make his marriage stronger. The “White Chicks” star called it his and his wife, Rebecca’s “90-day sex fast.”

“90 days -- no sex, all relationship, all talk, all cuddle," he said.

For some married couples the lack of sexual intimacy only causes trouble, but Crews revealed it had an opposite effect on his marriage. By abstaining, he and Rebecca became more in tuned with each other’s feelings.

"I found that at the end of that 90 days ... I knew who she was, and it wasn't about 'Let's go out because I know I'm gonna get some sex later.' It was like, 'Let's go because I want to talk to you. I want to know you,” Crews told Huffington Post Live.

The former football player acknowledged that “every man has a desire for intimacy.” However, he said this doesn’t always apply to every marriage, especially in relationships where there is lack of emotional connection between partners. Intimacy is reportedly not all about sex as if one is looking for porn. Instead, it’s about “looking for someone to know you and love you at the same time.”

Crews also shared his view on pornography in the same interview with Huffington Post Live. After a stint in rehab for pornography addition, the actor now looks at it differently. For him pornography doesn’t humanise people. Instead it uses people as objects.

“You’re looking at them as objects to be used. And that affects the way you talk to people … you think everyone can be used,” he said.

According to Refinery29.com, San Francisco-based sex therapist Vanessa Marin couldn’t agree more with the actor’s sex fast. Marin reportedly said that it also helps couples realise that there are more important ways to gain intimacy aside from sex. She also praised Crews and his wife for taking the 90-day sex fast since it requires “some serious willpower.”
