Things are starting to get interesting in “Teen Wolf” Season 5B with the arrival of the Beast, the Argent’s connection to the creature and the rise of a potential new hero.

In episode 12 of “Teen Wolf” Season 5 titled “Damnatio Memoriae,” fans had their first look at the scary Beast. The massive creature is considered a big threat not only by Scott and Stiles, played by Tyler Posey and Dylan O'Brien, respectively, but by Theo (Cody Christian) as well. A revelation by Gerard Argent (Michael Hogan) in the episode indicated that the Beast has a personal connection with their family, and Beacon Hill residents may find themselves terrorised by a creature whose sole purpose is to kill.

The Beast’s link to the Argent family may have surprised some viewers, but avid “Teen Wolf” fans may recall that the creature’s existence was already hinted in the show’s first season. According to MTV, the Beast of Gevaudan was first introduced in “Teen Wolf” Season 1 when Allison, played by Crystal Reed, discovered that her ancestor Marie-Jeanne Valet killed the Beast. Scott’s former love interest made the discovery while researching her family’s history.

Reed’s character Allison may have already passed away in Season 3 of “Teen Wolf”; however, the actress is set to appear in an upcoming Beast flashback episode. Reed will portray Allison’s ancestor, Marie-Jeanne Valet. Joining her are actors Gilles Marini and Lachlan Buchanan. The three celebrities will guest star in an episode that will bring the Beast’s background story to life.

Meanwhile, it is still unclear how Scott and his gang will defeat the Beast in “Teen Wolf” Season 5B. In the painting uncovered at the end of Season 5A, the mural hinted a confrontation between a hellhound and the massive creature. However, “Teen Wolf” showrunner Jeff Davis hinted that Lydia, played by Holland Roden, will play a “critical role” in Season 5B, Entertainment Weekly reports.

“At one point, one of the characters says something along the lines of, ‘She might be the one who can save us all,’” Davis told Entertainment Weekly. He explained that Lydia “finding her power” would be a key story point in “Teen Wolf” Season 5B. “That’s why we decided to make episodes 15 and 16 a two-part episode around her, which is the breaking-Lydia-out-of-Eichen episode,” he added.

“Teen Wolf” Season 5 episode 13 titled “Codominance” will air on Jan. 19 in the US on MTV.
