Teen Wolf' season 5, episode 7 ‘Strange Frequencies’ recap: The Dread Doctors vs. Scott and his pack
The Dread Doctors are ready to take their next target in “Teen Wolf” Season 5, episode 7 titled “Strange Frequencies.” Scott McCall, played by Tyler Posey and his pack must do everything that they can to help and protect chimera Hayden Romero, played by Victoria Moroles, from the villains in Beacon Hills.
Liam Dunbar, played by Dylan Sprayberry, is determined to save Hayden from the Dread Doctors after confirming in the previous episode titled “Required Reading,” that his new love interest is a chimera. However, the plan to protect Hayden failed in the latest “Teen Wolf” Season 5 episode.
Scott sets up a plan that will protect Hayden from the Dread Doctors in Beacon Hills High and allow his pack to capture one of the villains. However, the Dread Doctors know how to defeat Scott’s pack and take their next target.
Initially, Liam was upset with Scott’s plan after finding out that the True Alpha is using Hayden as a bait to capture one of the Dread Doctors. Liam eventually agrees to Scott’s plan but he wants Scott to promise that he will protect and save Hayden.
The plan ended with Liam and Hayden’s life in danger after the Dread Doctors took down Scott’s pack one by one through hallucinations. The Dread Doctors first targeted Deputy Parrish, played by Ryan Kelley, through a hallucination in the car outside involving Lydia Martin, played by Holland Roden.
The Dread Doctors were also able to take down Malia, played by Shelley Hennig, Scott and Lydia with illusions before capturing Liam and Hayden in the locker room. Scott’s hallucination involves Kira, played by Arden Cho, stabbing him through the chest and choking him. Meanwhile, Lydia’s hallucination involves the chimera Tracy Stewart, played by Kelsey Chow, ripping the banshee’s tongue out.
Mason Hewitt, played by Khylin Rhambo, arrives at the school to inform Scott that the Dread Doctors will also target Corey, played by Michael Johnston, because he is a chimera. Mason managed to snap Scott out of the Dread Doctors’ hallucination by making the True Alpha feel pain from a small cut on his hand.
Scott and his pack find out that their plan did not work because Liam, Hayden and the Dread Doctors are gone. Scott has assigned Stiles, played by Dylan O’Brien and Theo, played by Cody Christian, to watch over the clinic where the body of the chimera that Cody killed is kept.
Stiles and Theo may be far away from the Dread Doctors’ attack but their lives were still put in danger when Deputy Parrish showed up at the clinic to take away the dead chimera’s body. Deputy Parrish has been taking the dead bodies of the supernatural creatures and placing them on the Nemeton.
Kira’s kitsune powers are still out of control following a showdown with her 900-year-old kitsune mother at school. Noshiko Yukimura, played by Tamlyn Tomita, explains to Kira, played by Arden Cho, that the fox inside her is the one making her uncontrollable.
Kira decided not to be involved in Scott’s plan because she thinks she will end up doing more harm than helping the pack. The episode ended with a scene that shows Scott’s mom, played by Melissa Ponzio, screaming her lungs out after finding the dead body of a female chimera in her house with Kira’s sword sticking out of it.
“Teen Wolf” Season 5 will return with episode 8 titled “Ouroboros” on Monday night, Aug. 10, at 10/9c on MTV.
