Taylor Swift shares important lesson she learnt from Nicki Minaj VMA clash
Taylor Swift has broken her silence over her Twitter feud with Nicki Minaj and shared what she learnt from the experience in a magazine interview.
The rift between Swift and Minaj is totally over after all the drama that happened between them prior to the MTV Video Music Awards. After the nominations for the VMAs were announced, Swift and Minaj had exchanged a series of hurtful messages on Twitter after the "Blank Space" singer misunderstood the "Anaconda" artist's criticism of the MTV VMAs.
Despite apologising in public and engaging in surprise collaborations, both of them have not been able to escape the questions regarding their clash in the past. Swift tweeted her apology to Minaj in July and wrote, “I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I’m sorry, Nicki.” Minaj, meanwhile, accepted the apology and tweeted back to Swift. The rapper wrote, “That means so much Taylor. Thank you.”
In an exclusive feature in this week’s issue of NME magazine, Swift was asked about her and Minaj’s verbal fight. The “Style” singer is hesitant to talk about the issue, but she explained how she plans to deal with such issues next time, according to E Online .
“I don’t want to talk about it," Swift shared. "But I send text messages now. If there seems to be some kind of misunderstanding, I go to someone’s management, I get their number and I text them. It’s an important lesson for anyone to learn in 2015."
Aside from that clash with Minaj, Swift was also asked about her interactions with Kanye West. West had interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
“Me and Kanye are on such good terms now. It took a while. But I had to tell Beck about this story earlier,” Swift said. “I was at dinner with Kanye a week after the Grammys, he stops what he’s saying and he goes, ‘What is this song? I need to listen to this every day.’ I said, ‘It’s Beck. It’s on an album called Morning Phase, I think you’ve heard of it.” She continued narrating, saying that she and Kanye then burst out laughing, with Kanye saying, “Hey! Sometimes I’m wrong!”
Swift is currently busy completing the final dates of her “1989” U.S. tour.
