E-commerce giant Amazon.com, Inc. has announced a partnership with Universal Music Group. Amazon expects to generate more value for subscribers for its Prime Music exclusive music streaming app in the United Kingdom and the United States.

“Prime Music has already become a top destination for streaming music in the U.S. and U.K., and we are thrilled today to make it even better by growing our selection with Universal Music artist,” said VP of Digital Music for Amazon Steve Boom as reported by Business Wire. Select music from Universal Music Group artists, such as Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Lana Del Rey, Lorde, Eminem, Maroon 5, Ellie Goulding, Jessie J, The Weeknd and Drake, are now available to Prime Music members.

The signed deal between the two big firms is only partial, claims The Verge. Amazon and UMG agreed that only “select albums” are to be made available to Prime Music. However, the deal doesn’t cover an artist’s latest and freshest catalog.

“We are pleased to make a selection of our catalog available on Prime Music,” said Francis Keeling, UMG’s Global Head of Digital Business during the partnership announcement. UMG didn’t specify which of its albums will be made available on Amazon’s music streaming app.

Music from Sony and Warner has been available to subscribers since the launch of Prime Music well over a year ago.

In addition, expertly programmed Prime Playlists showcasing select songs from UMG will be enjoyed by exclusive members of the Amazon service. Subscribers can listen to the playlists via the Amazon music app, Amazon Echo or the web. The tracks will also be available for offline listening, reports Mashable.
