Luxury watch brand, TAG Heuer is planning to enter the smart watch segment and the first luxury Android wear smart watch will go on sale in November at a price tag of $1,400, as per reports.

According to a Forbes report, the TAG Heuer smart watch offers battery life for 40 hours, which is more than the battery life of 18 hours offered by the newly launched Apple Watch. TAG Heuer’s smart watch costs more than the entry level $349 Apple Watch Sport but is cheaper when compared to $12,000+ limited edition gold version of the Apple Watch.

Last month, TAG Heuer’s Chief Executive Jean-Claude Biver had confirmed the launch of an Android Wear smartwatch in the fourth quarter of this year, reports NDTV Gadgets. Last month, TAG Heuer announced its collaboration with Google to customize the Android Wear OS for its upcoming smart watch. The luxury watch brand is also teaming up with Intel for System on Chip (SoC), NDTV Gadgets reported.

In a media conference held at Baselworld, Biver said that the smart watch was the ‘biggest announcement ever’ for TAG Heuer, reports Forbes. Biver also explained, since the microchip would not be manufactured in Switzerland, the smart watch may not carry the Swiss made label.

TAG Heuer is also into the smartphone business. The TAG Heuer Racer and the TAG Heuer LINK are two Android handsets under the luxury watch brand’s stable, reports Android Community.

The other Android Wear smart watch include LG G Watch R, Asus ZenWatch, LG G Watch, Huawei Watch, Moto 360, LG Watch Urbane, Sony SmartWatch 3 and Samsung Gear Live, as enlisted in Wareable.

The upcoming TAG Heuer smart watch will be another variety for Android Wear customers. This smartwatch will be more expensive than other Android Wear smart watches, reports Android Community.

Recently, Google had announced an update for its Android Wear software which will reduce smart watch’s dependency on smart phone, when connected to a Wi-Fi network. The latest software update is available on the LG Watch Urbane that allows the smartwatch to connect to Wi-Fi network.
