First launch in 1994, first-person RPG shooter “System Shock” was a critically-acclaimed video game by fans of the genre and it has since been one of the pioneers in first-person gaming. Though the game is pretty outdated gameplay and graphic-wise, “System Shock” will once again storm players with a remake in the works.

Last September developer Night Dive studios launched “System Shock: Enhanced Edition.”The re-release gave the game updated graphics and many more upon launch, but the developer aimed for something better. That’s when it decided to fully remake the game providing the classic with the much needed upgrades it needed.

Developer Night Dive Studios recently released a few screenshots of the “System Shock” remake to Polygon. Polygon even provided a side-by-side comparison between the original 1994 title to the upcoming remake to showcase just how much the game is going to change.

The difference between the two games is remarkable considering that it’s more than 20 years apart from each other. Not much is known about the gameplay and how Night Dive Studios have updated it, but the developer could reveal it in the months to come.

Aside from the screenshots, Night Dive Studios also provided some concept art featuring the units to be found in the game. Among the characters revealed in the concept art are a Serv-bot, Cyborg Drone and Humanoid Mutant. So far, the units look to be more detailed as compared to the original games so fans of the series have something to look forward to. Even those who don’t know the game might even enjoy the classic when it hits consoles.

“System Shock” reemerged into gaming once again when Night Dive Studios CEO Stephen Kick revealed in an interview with Fast Company that it has acquired the full rights to the game. The CEO even noted plans of developing “System Shock 3.”
