Sword Art Online trailer with English Sub released YouTube/Sword Art Online

Australian film distributor Madman Entertainment started streaming an official trailer for “Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale.” The promo clip is the same as the one released last week. But this time, it has been subtitled in English.

Madman Entertainment is well-known for publishing famous Japanese anime. Through the subbed trailer released by the company, fans of the Japanese anime “Sword Art Online” were reintroduced to a slew of familiar faces.

Kirito and Asuna are back for their lead roles. The series follows the story of the main characters as they play a new video game that took the world by storm.

Aside from the returning cast, “Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale” is bound to introduce new roles as hinted by the trailer. There are a couple of new ones for fans to keep an eye on. See trailer here.

Meanwhile, the official synopsis for the film reads: “In 2022, the world of virtual reality was upended by the arrival of a new invention from a genius programmer, Akihiko Kayaba, called NerveGear. It was the first full-dive system, and with it, came endless possibilities to VRMMORPGs.”

The film's synopsis further reveals that in 2026, a new machine called the Augma is created. It is designed to compete against the NerveGear and its successor, the Amusphere. Augma utilises Augmented Reality (AR) to get players into the game.

Of all the games, Ordinal Scale becomes the most popular according to Anime News Network. But the game may not be as ideal as it seemed after all as Asuna and the gang learns that Ordinal Scale is not just about fun.

“Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale” is noticeably different from the actual game. Comic Book has noticed that the film’s video game foregoes full-on dives and instead uses augmented reality. According to the outlet, the game appears fun at first. But it may no longer be the same case once Kirito encounters a beast.

“Sword Art Online” also has a manga and anime adaptation. The first anime “Sword Art Online” aired in 2012. A sequel for the anime adaptation kicked off in 2014.

The movie will debut in its home country and other Southeast Asian regions next month before it hits Australia and the United States. “Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale” is slated to be released in Australia on March 9.
