MasterChef Australia” alum Sara Oteri left her fans tickled pink this week when she announced that she’s engaged to her long-time boyfriend.

The 27-year-old former advertising creative took to Instagram to share their first photo after her fiancé Damiano Di Pierto’s proposal. “I’m rarely lost for words but yesterday I was rendered truly speechless,” she said. “Like can’t speak, see, stand or even breathe kind of speechless.”

Followers of the highly popular cooking competition would remember Oteri, who was sent home during Finals Week of “MasterChef” Australia 2015, after she failed to recreate a liquid butternut gnocchi with mushroom consommé and roast mushroom truffle cheese toast dish set by Gastro Park's Grant King. Her elimination left her fierce contenders Jessica Arnott, Reynold Poernomo, Georgia Barnes and Billie McKay vying for the title. In the end, McKay emerged on top of the pack and even scored a job offer from Heston Blumenthal.

Despite her loss, Oteri still seemed like a winner when she went home. In an interview, she told Pop Sugar that the first thing she did after being booted off was to kiss her boyfriend. “I hadn’t seen him in five months, so definitely just cuddles and kisses,” she said. “And I didn’t speak to anyone — I didn’t want to tell anyone I’d been eliminated, I didn’t even tell my mum and dad until the day after. I just wanted some time to breathe and focus on what’s important.”

The newly engaged couple, who has been together for three years, reportedly met at Melbourne advertising agency Cummins & Partners where they used to work. A couple of months ago, Oteri had a mush-fest when she posted a couple photo with a sweet message for Di Pierto. “Apologies for the mushy talk but I wanted to share with you the best thing in my life… my fella,” she wrote. There’s a lot I’m grateful for and blessed to have but nothing more than this guy.”

Oteri’s latest food stints include a being featured at Cake Bake & Sweets Show and at Queen Victoria night market in June.
