Winchester brothers work on their mission separately after the confrontation in Episode 10 "Road Trip." In Episode 11 "First Born," Sam (Jared Padalecki) teams up with Castiel (Misha Collins) in the "Men of Letters" bunker to find Gadreel while Dean (Jensen Ackles) joins Crowley (Mark Sheppard) in fulfilling his plan of killing Abaddon (Alaina Huffman) using a weapon they must find first.

Spoiler alert: This feature contains major spoilers on "Supernatural" Season 9, Episode 11 "First Born." The unlikely pairing of Crowley and Dean goes on a hunting trip to get "The First Blade," which is a weapon that can kill their enemy, Abaddon, a member of the Knights of Hell.

At the bunker, Castiel discovers Sam still has some of Gadreel's grace in him so the two go through the files and find out it can be extracted and used to track the treacherous angel that possessed Sam. The extraction process has been described as painful but Sam still agreed to do it.

Ex-hunter Tara, who worked with Dean's father John Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), helped Dean and Crowley in locating where the weapon is and who holds it. The answer to the question of who has the weapon made Crowley flinch with fear for it is none other than "The Father of Murder" Cain (Tim Omundson).

Cain tells Crowley and Dean to leave his Missouri home. But the other first born child is stubborn and determined to get the weapon. They did not know that demons followed their trail so Dean decided to fight them off but Cain does not want to get involved.

An amazing fight scene happens as Dean took on the demons that Cain allowed to enter his home. While Dean busily fought off the demons, Cain only sat there and watched. Meanwhile, Sam and Castiel were also busily working on the extraction process but, in the middle of the painful procedure, the angel decided to stop when human feelings came over him.

The grace that was extracted from Sam was not enough to track down Gadreel but Castiel assured Sam that there would be another way to find the angel and Metatron and fix the whole mess. As for Dean, Cain finally shared his story and where they could find the weapon but gave the first born Winchester another burden to bear which had his mark.

"The mark and the blade work together. Without the mark, the blade is useless," Cain explained. Dean agreed to have the mark transferred to him as long as it will allow him to put an end to Abaddon's evil plans. However, the ending scene had Dean confronting Crowley that what happened in Cain's home was just one of the demon's deceitful moves.
