“Supernatural” Season 11, Episode 20 (“Don’t Call Me Shurley”) aired on May 4 on The CW with a big reveal for the fans. God gets honest and opens up to Metatron. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) close the episode with their jaws on the ground. The Winchester brothers are finally going to have a real talk with God – in Episode 21.

Spoiler alert: This review recaps the highlights of Supernatural 11x20. Some details about Episode 21 (“All in the Family”) are also included.

To quickly recap “Supernatural” Season 11, Episode 20: Angel Metatron (Curtis Armstrong) finds himself in limbo with Chuck Shurley (Rob Benedict), a character long believed to be God. The series created by Eric Kripke has finally made things crystal in this week’s new episode: Chuck is really God.

Supernatural 11x20: Don’t Call Me Shurley, I am God!

Metatron unleashes his resentment over the events that led to his conversation with God himself. God appears to have been enlightened by their discourse, and he then helps out a small town that was suffering because of God’s sister Amara (Emily Swallow).

The Samulet also makes a glowing comeback in Supernatural 11x20. The viewers who did not believe Chuck was God used Sam’s amulet as a basis. After all, Sam and Dean have already interacted with Chuck in the past seasons. God explains in the latest episode that he deactivated the amulet.

God and the Winchester brothers are expected to lay out plans in order to beat Amara. Dean has mocked Sam for praying for God’s help in the past, saying the Winchester brothers are alone in the fight. Now things have changed. “Supernatural” Season 12 is going to be a lot different now that God is – out and properly identified!

Supernatural 11x21: God, save Castiel!

Castiel (Misha Collins), Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) and Crowley (Mark Sheppard) are all expected to have scenes with Amara and Chuck/God in the episodes leading to “Supernatural” Season 11 finale.

The God reveal has been well-received by fans, who have been guessing for years how God would intro himself to the Winchester brothers. In the next episode, they deal with Amara’s reaction to God’s move.

“Supernatural” Season 11, Episode 21 (“All in the Family”) airs on May 11 on The CW.
