There are rumors that production for “Supergirl” Season 2 will transfer to Vancouver to save costs. Also, the show may possibly move from CBS to The CW soon.

In an exclusive report by Deadline, Warner Bros. TV is seriously considering to transfer the production of the second season from Los Angeles to Vancouver. Although the cast may not be too keen about the thought of moving, the plan will potentially happen since the show is looking for ways to minimize expenses.

“Supergirl” expected to be given a tax credit by the California Film Commission after it committed to filming in California. However, the show’s application was denied, which will impact the budget projections and compel the show to relocate to Vancouver. Show producer Greg Berlantimay make the move, to take advantage of reduced costs, and considering how all his other superhero dramas are being filmed in Canada as well.

At present, the second season of “Supergirl” has yet to be renewed. The show requires a very high license fee, so CBS may either reduce the total episodes or cancel it altogether. Other networks, like The CW, have shown interest in picking up the series if CBS decides not to renew. The CW president Mark Pedowitz previously shared how he regretted not acquiring the project when it was first pitched. The CW is actually co-owned by CBS and Warner Bros., so a move to The CW is also a huge possibility in the near future.

TheWrap notes that CBS head Leslie Moonves is currently discussing with WBTV head Peter Roth about their options for “Supergirl” Season 2. CBS certainly wants the show to return. However, each episode reportedly costs $3 million, which is not quite justified by its ratings. Nielsen cited that there were 13 million viewers during the Season 1 premiere in October 2015, but the total has dwindled to half over the season.

CBS is set to announce its fall schedule in New York sometime in May 2016. Moonves may decide to transfer “Supergirl” to The CW, which will be a joint venture between CBS and WB.

More “Supergirl” updates and details are expected soon.
