“Supergirl” Season 2 will be full of new characters. As the show transfers from CBS to The CW, there will be several familiar names in the comics who will be introduced in the next chapter.

First, the introduction of Superman in “Supergirl” Season 2 was announced. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg stated that Clark Kent and his alter-ego will appear in the first two episodes of the new season.

Five new and recurring roles have yet to be cast for the new season.

TVLine reveals that Lena, Lex Luthor’s sister, will also appear in the second season. The character is described as a sexy and smart woman who aims to get out of the shadow of her brother. Lena will be appearing as a regular in “Supergirl.”

IGN says that Nick Farrow will also be a series regular. He is described as the son of a famous reporter who aims to build his reputation in the news world, a brash leading man who will clash with Kara. However, he will have to struggle to depart from his old selfish and hedonistic lifestyle to make a new name for himself.

There will also be three returning characters, namely The Doctor, Snapper Carr and Maggie. The Doctor is the evil female head of Project Cadmus who implants alien technology on her victims. Carr is a veteran journalist, while Maggie is an out and proud lesbian detective, who will encounter extraordinary situations and face metahuman threats.

She is most likely inspired by Maggie Sawyer in the comics. Should there be another crossover episode between “Supergirl” and “The Flash,” Maggie will most likely work well with Barry (Grant Gustin) and the rest of the team.

TVGuide writes that Carr was handpicked by Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) to make huge changes in CatCo’s newsroom. There are also rumors that the big move from CBS to The CW or transfer from Los Angeles to Vancouver might cause some characters in Season 1 not to return, such as Cat Grant. Warner Bros. did not comment on Flockhart’s future in the series at the moment.

More updates and details on “Supergirl” Season 2 are expected soon. The CW show is set to debut later in 2016.
