This October, actor Tyler Hoechlin will make his debut as Superman in the US Drama “Supergirl.” However, other actors’ names are swimming around as possibly better alternatives -- Scott Eastwood, Zachary Levi and especially Tom Welling.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott Eastwood would have made a great Superman, aesthetically. As the son of legendary actor Clint Eastwood, there is hardly any doubt that the 30-year-old has the acting ability to portray the iconic hero. Unfortunately, Eastwood did not make the cut, and fans of the actor will need to wait until “Suicide Squad” to see him in the DC universe.

Next on the list is Zachary Levi, who proved he can battle it out with the best of them as he starred alongside Chris Hemsworth in “Thor: The Dark World.” And while he joined the Marvel team in the big screen, this should not have been a hard obstacle to hurdle. There is no denying as well that Levi looks like the spitting image of Clark Kent.

And yet, there is Tom Welling, whose name keeps ringing in the comments section of different headlines. It seems that despite the actor's portrayal of Clark in "Smallville" for 10 seasons, fans still want more of him. In fact, it only gave fans more fuel and proof that Welling would have been a good choice. Of course, there is the issue of the different backstory of Welling’s Superman from the one he would take in “Supergirl.”
