As one of the biggest gaming events of the year, the Super Bowl is highly anticipated throughout the world. And while the actual plays of the teams are what keep people entertained, the ads shown during the commercials have become almost as big as the event itself.

Over the years, Super Bowl ads have gotten bigger and better. Speculation over the brands, themes and actresses begin during the weeks leading to the event. Moreover, some of the biggest names in directing, music and Hollywood are always tagged in with the rumours. This year’s event was no different and below is a list of some of the best ads that have been released.

Budweiser - “Born The Hard Way”

In Budweiser’s aptly titled commercial, “Born this Way,” audiences watch the story of a German immigrant. Though countless difficulties, including discrimination and hate, he continues on knowing and believing that America is the land of opportunity -- and he will get his time. Eventually, he becomes the brains behind one of America’s favourite beers, Budweiser.

Honda - “Yearbooks”

In Honda’s witty yet effective Super Bowl ad, viewers are taken on a tour of some of yearbook photos of some of the biggest names in entertainment. Robert Redford, Amy Adams, Ervin “Magic” Johnson and Steve Carell are only some of the names that make a strange cameo. The idea behind the ad is arguably that any dream can come true, despite background and circumstances.

Coca Cola - “It’s Beautiful”

Coca Cola went for a classic this year for its Super Bowl ad titled “It’s Beautiful.” The soda company showcased an ad from August that featured a rendition of “America the Beautiful,” as sung in different languages. The company did mix things up, however, with a live cameo from Houston, Texas. The cameo featured the cast of “Hamilton,” who added “sisterhood” to the lyrics.

Kia - “Hero’s Journey”

The always-hilarious Melissa McCarthy stars in Kia’s Super Bowl ad this year, which features the eco-friendly 2017 Niro crossover. In the commercial, McCarthy is seen battling waves to save whales, as well as other undertakings in order to save trees and ice caps. All of her endeavours are, however, finished with pain that includes as falling off a cliff or being attacked by a rhino. “It’s hard to be an eco-warrior, but it’s easy to drive like one,” the clip finishes.

This year’s roster of Super Bowl ads were not only beautiful to watch, but they are also relevant to today’s times. A few controversial themes were discussed, and it is evident that the art of commercials have come a long way.
