Celebrities, in terms of health, are no different from those of ordinary people. They, too, battle different illnesses and they fight strong. Here's a list of those who were affected by different types of cancers.

Christina Applegate

Christina Applegate battled breast cancer and now she is very involved in breast cancer prevention. She has started a foundation to help those suffering from breast cancer. In July 2008, doctors found in one of her breasts cancerous lumps, and she underwent a double mastectomy after which she became cancer-free. She said, "I've had to talk about that word [cancer] more than I've ever had to talk about a word in my life ... After a while you're like, 'There's got to be something else to me.'"

Lance Armstrong

In 1996, Lance Armstrong was faced with a serious problem, that of testicular cancer which had spread to his brain and lungs. He fought well and threw the cancer out. He also won the Tour de France seven times, but his titles were taken away from him due to use of prohibited drugs. Lance Armstrong said, "I wanted to live, but whether I would or not was mystery, and in the midst of confronting that fact, even at that moment, I was beginning to sense that to stare into the heart of such a fearful mystery wasn't a bad thing. To be afraid is a priceless education. "

Sheryl Crow

In 2006, Sheryl Crow found out she had breast cancer but she fought well. The fight against cancer practically changed her life after which she decided to adopt her son.

Sharon Osbourne

Sharon Osbourne started Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program after her battle with colon cancer in 2002.

Cynthia Nixon

In 2006, Cynthia was diagnosed with breast cancer and she came out of it as a survivor. This led to her becoming an ambassador for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Kathy Bates

In 2003, Kathy Bates battled ovarian cancer. Currently, she is in remission.

Fran Drescher

After misdiagnosis for two years, in the year 2000, Fran Srescher was found to have uterine cancer. Her fight with cancer prompted her to form the Fran Drescher's Cancer Schmancer Foundation.

Tom Green

Tom Green's treatment for testicular cancer was aired by MTV as a one-hour special.

Kylie Minogue

In 2005, Kylie Minogue was diagnosed with breast cancer and eight months after treatment, she came out cancer-free.
