Bruno Mars is reportedly in talks to perform at the Super Bowl for its biggest celebration on Feb. 7 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The pop star is in talks to headline the halftime show after his 2014 performance gained positive remarks from viewers.

Sources told Entertainment Weekly’s Will Robinson that the National Football League (NFL) thought so highly of the singer’s performance last year that they have once again asked him to headline the Super Bowl halftime show in 2016.

In addition to performing at the “Super Bowl 50,” the Grammy-winning singer will “curate” the show, a source confirmed with Billboard.

Bruno Mars previously fronted the 2014 show with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. As of now, there are no details on which band the pop star might invite to the stage for his halftime show at the “Super Bowl 50.”

Talks to have the singer perform again for the halftime show reportedly already happened back in December. According to Billboard, Sarah Moll, director of media events for the NFL, is a huge fan of Bruno Mars and hence she pitched him for the show.

"I like to think that I have somewhat of a say and I know I do have somewhat of a say. I definitely let my personal opinions come out, you have to,” Moll said in a previous interview with Billboard.

However, her personal opinion alone was reportedly not the only deciding factor. Members of the NFL board, its executives and the commissioner, also have their say on booking the artist for the event.

"But I look at it really is Super Bowl XLVIII as a whole and the day really encompassed music from the beginning of the day all the way through halftime,” Moll told Billboard.

Bruno Mars’ 2014 performance reportedly broke the most watched halftime show, well that is until Katy Perry’s performance in 2014. According to Yahoo Sports, the Super Bowl 2014 halftime show gained over 115 million views. Katy Perry topped that record however in 2015 with 118.5 million views.
