Award-winning singer-songwriter Bruno Mars made a huge announcement on Saturday that Red Hot Chili Peppers will be sharing the Super Bowl 2014 stage with him. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers are all set to come aboard to become a part of the world famous halftime show.

Last year, the Super Bowl Halftime performer Beyonce was joined by Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Then, a couple of years ago, Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. joined Madonna on stage.

Fansided.com reports that the rumours that the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will play for Super Bowl halftime circulated online during the early morning of Saturday. No confirmation was given out until Billboard's 2013 artist of the year confirmed it himself. Bruno Mars mentioned over at the Fox Pregame show how excited he is to perform and that he has a lot up his sleeve to deliver as surprises, with the first of these being the inclusion of the band Red Hot Chili Peppers for the Super Bowl 2014 halftime performance.

Many are thinking that it is a wise move to include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, especially with the criticisms that Mars is getting for not having that usual NFL appeal for a halftime performer. To add the twist of the band's music can surely help in expanding the show's viewership.

According to NFL, the Pepsi Super Bowl halftime show is the "most-watched musical event of the year." More than 110.5 million people in the U.S. alone viewed the performance last year.

Bruno Mars is an 18-time Grammy Award nominee and winner, selling 130 million singles worldwide. Billboard once mentioned that he has earned for himself the first five Hot 100 number 1s faster than any other male artist since Elvis Presley. On the other hand, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have sold more than 60 million albums, earned five multi-platinum LPs and a winner of six Grammy Awards.

Bruno Mars, together with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, will be seen performing during the Super Bowl 2014 halftime show on Feb 2, 2014. It will be broadcast worldwide.
