The much awaited Google I/O 2016 event is scheduled for May 18-20 this year. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, has declared that the event will be held in Mountain View, California.

Pichai, through his Twitter account, announced the event venue and the schedule. "I/O '16, coming to neighbourhood where it all started 10 years ago: Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View," he tweeted. For the past ten years, Google conducted its annual event at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. This change of venue is seen as a cue that the company may introduce something special.

According to rumours, the company may introduce a multi-window support on Android N at Google I/O 2016. Reports even suggested that Google is currently working on the feature and in fact, the multi-window feature is expected on Android M. Fans also expect that the company may showcase an update on Google Glass, or would possibly present a new and improved version of Cardboard.

It is anticipated that the company may also offer an update on Brillo and Weave. Both are operating systems developed for IoT devices. As part of the event, fans are eager to see any major update on Chrome OS. Word comes that Chrome OS will come with some Android features, according to NDTV.

Last year, the company announced a major reshuffle by introducing a holding company called Alphabet Inc. Since Google decided to hold the event in its own backyard, it could be seen as the new beginning, notes NDTV.

Every year, Google conducts an annual event to reveal the new Android version and distribute the developer preview to fans. Last year, the company at its annual event unveiled the Android M or Android Marshmallow and its feature.
