Considered by many to be one of the finest Japanese Role Playing Games ever created, "Suikoden 2" was definitely a game changer. When it was originally announced that the hit game was coming to the PlayStation Network, fans went crazy with Kotaku writing an article about why it remains as one of the greats.

This week fans of the hit game found out their enthusiasm paid off, as "Suikoden 2" was the best-selling PlayStation Classic of December, according to the PlayStation Blog and Kotaku. Originally created by Konami, the "Suikoden" series was always unique from other Japanese RPG's of the time due to its mature storyline and its cast of over a hundred characters.

Of all the games it is the first sequel, "Suikoden 2" that is considered the benchmark of the series and maybe even considered the best game of the whole franchise. Though its gameplay was a typical turn based battle system, it was fast paced and featured six characters per party, whereas most RPG's at the time were lucky to have four. The addictive quality of recruiting more than a hundred members was almost "Pokemon" level addictive, and the storyline that kept getting darker as the game went on was filled with surprises and twists.

Though there have been other games in the series, none can seemingly compare to the second game. The last "Suikoden" game in the franchise that was released in the west was "Suikoden 5" for the PlayStation 2. Many fans have been wondering if there ever will be a sixth game in the franchise and if it will ever get a next generation iteration. There was another game for the PlayStation Portable titled "Suikoden: The Woven Web of a Centure" released back in 2011, but it never reached state side leaving many fans heartbroken.

Website Siliconera covered a long tweet last year from Konami regarding the "Suikoden" series. Though the company thanked fans for their support, it appears that a new "Suikoden" game is not in the works as of yet. The tweet did encourage fans to let their voices be heard though, so it could be a matter of time.
