Will Smith is reportedly thrilled to play Deadshot in “Suicide Squad.” The actor recently shared his excitement to play the DC comic character during the press tour of his upcoming film “Focus.” He said that he wants to create a “global definition of Deadshot.”

“There's been Deadshot in little appearances here and there, there's an idea, but Deadshot isn't defined, really. I get to be a part of the creation that will be the biggest historical image of Deadshot,” he said, MTV reports.

Deadshot is a supervillain and is a prime enemy of Batman. He is an assassin and uses a wrist-mounted gun as his weapon. In the comic book, he plans to become the king of the Gotham underworld. His real name is Floyd Lawton, and on one occasion he accidently kills his beloved brother, which leaves a deeper impact on his psychology. This affects his decision to kill Batman.

In “Suicide Squad” Deadshot will join the group of other supervillains to execute a dangerous mission in exchange of a shorter prison time. Margot Robbie, who plays Harley Quinn in the film, also said during the press tour that she asked Smith to take up the role of Deadshot,” Movieweb reports. She reportedly texted him that he “better take this job.” Moreover, she wanted Smith to become part of “Suicide Squad” as she had already signed on the film.

According to comic books, Robbie’s character Quinn is the partner and girlfriend of Joker. She is immune to poisons and toxins and is an ally of Poison Ivy and has a thick Brooklyn accent. The character first appeared in the Batman Adventures #12 comic book.

Meanwhile, David Ayer is directing the “Suicide Squad.” The film also stars Jared Leto as Joker, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. Jesse Eisenberg and Viola Davis are also being considered for the role of Lex Luthor and Amanda Walle, respectively.“Suicide Squad” is scheduled for release on Aug. 5, 2015. The film is currently in its pre-production stage.
