Jared Leto was recently announced for the role of the Joker in "Suicide Squad." In response to his casting, the actor shared a photo of himself, which according to reports is a tease to what his look would be in the movie.

Batman-news supposed Jared Leto's photo on his Instagram account gives fans a quick glimpse at the Joker's hairstyle in "Suicide Squad." The actor shared the photo four days ago on Christmas Day and simply captioned it "Haircut. #2015." The photo, which Batman-news posted on its site, already received 211,000 likes and 11,000 comments. Among those comments refer to his role in the movie.

However, the question remains why his photo would allude to his role as the Joker. The Instagram photo was reportedly taken from Jared Leto's 2011 photo shoot for GQ. But why bring back an old photo and caption it for 2015? According to Batman-news, for his Oscar winning performance in "Dallas Buyers Club" Leto willingly grew his hair, which he has since been sporting. But the site is certain Jared will not be maintaining the same hairstyle for "Suicide Squad."

Whether the 43-year-old will rock the hairstyle in the movie remains uncertain. However, per Cinemablend it would be a different look compared to his predecessors in previous TV and film versions of the DC character. Cesar Romero's version of the Joker in the Batman television series reportedly features a thick, neon-green hairstyle, while Jack Nicholson showed minimal slicked-back hair in Tim Burton's "Batman." Lastly, Heath Ledger wore his hair long and curly for Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight." However, looking closely at Jared Leto's hairstyle shows a resemblance to Mark Hamill's (voice over) version of the Joker or the Trickster in "Batman: The Animated Series." A photo posted on Screenrant shows the same spiky hairdo.

Jared Leto's casting as the Joker in "Suicide Squad" is an intriguing choice per ABC News. It would reportedly be the first time after many years since a new actor has landed the role since Heath Ledger. However, Leto would supposedly fit the part very well for many reasons. Aside from being an Oscar winner, Jared is believed to be a method actor. He will go to extreme lengths for his role even losing 30 pounds to play the sick Rayon in "Dallas Buyers Club." Additionally, Leto supposedly looks much like the Joker now with his current hairstyle and scruffy beard.
