Capcom recently announced that a “Street Fighter V” online beta is coming soon. The online beta will soon be available for fans who pre-ordered “Street Fighter V” on the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft computers, though the date for the beta testing has yet to be given. It is currently unknown if fans who didn’t pre-order the game will also be given the opportunity to test the game.

The announcement of the beta was made on the Capcom Unity Blog. The company is hoping for the “Street Fighter V” beta test to be large and ambitious, while it also iterates that feedback for the game will be very important.

Also revealed along with the online beta was fan-favourite “Street Fighter” character Charlie Nash. Fans of the game know that Charlie hasn’t had a major role in the games since the “Street Fighter Alpha” series, though the character has been an essential element to the backstory of “Street Fighter” mainstay Guile.

Interestingly enough, Charlie is given a somewhat new look for “Street Fighter V.” The fighter now has a metal plate in his head, which could lead to many interesting possibilities as to what happened to the character in the previous games.

The gameplay trailer for Charlie shows that the new makeover isn’t just artificial. Charlie now has a few new moves in his arsenal, including inverted versions of his sonic kick and a brutal-looking sonic boom throw. Another interesting addition to the character is he can now teleport in fights, which gives him a unique advantage over most of the other characters, as he can now dodge ranged attacks with ease.

His alignment is unknown, though gaming website Kotaku is hoping the character hasn’t gone to the dark side. Still, given that Charlie was essentially a clone of Guile gameplay-wise, fans will probably appreciate the diversity in his new moveset.

More announcements regarding the “Street Fighter V” online beta testing and Charlie Nash will be revealed “soon,” according to the Capcom Unity Blog. The ending of the gameplay trailer teases the return of longtime "Street Fighter" foe M.Bison, so fans can expect to tussle with him once again.
