Capcom has revealed its plans for the roster of “Street Fighter V” a couple of weeks ago. According to the developer, the new iteration in the hit fighting series is set to get a slew of characters, three of which are new faces to the franchise. Necalli was the first of the new entries, and Capcom recently revealed the second newcomer in the form of Middle Eastern character Rashid.

According to Shoryuken, Rashid of the Turbulent Winds was first revealed at games expo GAMES15 held in Dubai on Friday, Sept. 11. Before the release, however, game producer Yoshinori Ono has been teasing fans with a screenshot that partially shows the character.

As seen from the video below, Rashid can utilise the wind to win battles. Aside from using gusts of wind to hit opponents, he can also create traps to temporarily disable the enemies. A good way to utilise these traps is to attack the trapped opponent instantly and not give him time to recover.

Rashid’s arsenal of attacks once again requires the use of different playstyles. Necalli, for example, should be used aggressively as his attacks and combos are quick. Meanwhile, Rashid requires patience and precise timing. Players who are used to playing aggressively may need to adjust to Rashid’s fun and laidback style.

The inclusion of Rashid to the “Street Fighter V” roster was a collaboration by Capcom, Sony and Pluto Games, IGN Middle East reports. Ono reportedly had a hard time developing the character at first since there were no Middle Eastern employees over at Capcom. This is when he decided to enlist the help of Sony and Pluto Games; the latter is currently one of the largest game distributors in the Middle East.

The addition of Rashid to the ‘Street Fighter V’ roster could be Capcom’s answer to Namco’s similar move of adding a Middle Eastern character in “Tekken 7” called Shaheen. His inclusion in the game makes him the second Middle Eastern character in the game’s universe, next to Pullum Purma from “Street Fighter EX."
