The attention surrounding “Stranger Things” and its upcoming second season has not dissipated, largely in part of the adorable cast that it stars. Caleb McLaughlin, who plays Lucas on the show, has provided some vital information on the upcoming season.

In a quick interview with TMZ, the 15-year-old first tried to play it coy when asked about “Stranger Things” season 2. “I’m older,” he simply said. But after some pressing he did give more detailed information.

He confirmed that the upcoming season will be composed of nine episodes, which is one more than the original. McLaughlin also shared that filming has not been completed. So while no release date has been officially reported by the crew or Netflix, it does not look like it will be anytime soon. The media’s estimation of July 2017 might, however, hold up.

“Stranger Things” has been a general public favourite since its release on Netflix last year. The story is captivating, the characters are engaging and the overall creation of the world is inspiring. Which is why it is no shock that even M Night Shyamalan is willing to direct an episode of the beloved series, as he admitted to Digital Spy.

"My boys who do ‘Stranger Things,’ they did ‘Wayward Pines’ for me," he told the publication. "They were round my house and I was like, 'Well, you can hire me back guys!'"

However, Shawn Levy, who directed episodes 3 and 4 of season 1 already confirmed with Collider that he would share the directing responsibilities with the Duffer Brothers. “Just like last year, they’re doing 1 and 2,” he said. “I’m going in 3 and 4.”

“Stranger Things” season 2 is seeing a lot of the original cast come back, including Winona Ryder, Millie Bobbie Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo and Noah Schnapp, who has been promoted to regular cast member. However, the series will also welcome new faces such as Sean Astin, Paul Reiser and Linnea Berthelsen.
