In “The Strain” Season 2, episode 8 titled “The Intruders,” Kelly Goodweather (Natalie Brown) attempts to reunite with her son, Zach (Max Charles). Thomas Eichhorst (Richard Sammel) dresses her in human clothing and does a good job of concealing her strigoi features with heavy makeup, a wig and a pair of contact lenses. But her attempt at turning Zach to a strigoi turned out to be futile, no thanks to the intervention of Zach’s father Eph (Corey Stoll) and Nora (Mia Maestro). However, in a recent interview, Brown teases the possibility of Zach finally returning to his mother in the coming episodes.

Talking about Kelly’s failed attempt to retrieve her son in “The Intruders,” Brown tells The Hollywood Reporter (THD) that her character will continue to get what she wants. When asked if Kelly will stop pursuing her son, Natalie replied, “She will stop at nothing to turn her son.”

In “The Intruders,” Kelly storms out wounded. But this will reportedly not deter her from seeking out Zach in the coming episodes.

“She is wounded and she will have to switch up her tactics for sure, so we will see a shift in the journey because this particular plan is foiled,” Natalie tells THD .

Natalie attributes her character’s determination to the emotional bond between mother and son. The actress says Kelly still longs for Zach in many ways.

“Kelly still longs to connect with her son in the only way she knows how and Zach is still looking for a way to connect with the mother he loves so dearly,” Brown said.

The actress describes Kelly as a mama bear calling out to her child, whose only wish is to protect and make sure her child is safe. In Season 2 of “The Strain,” Kelly reportedly thinks of Zach being in an unsafe place with Eph and the others. Zach’s mother considers him to be vulnerable and is looking to provide a safe place for him with her as a strigoi.

In a previous interview with Wet Paint , Natalie revealed the painstaking process of Kelly’s transition from a human being to a strigoi. She reportedly had to learn Muay Thai to hone her physical skills as a vampire. Brown said she also had to learn the proper choreography moves to show the bloodsucking movement.
