Microsoft announced “State of Decay 2” as a “play anywhere” title at the E3 2016. As the 2013 original was brought to the Steam platform, this time too fans believe that “State of Decay 2” will be brought to Steam. Undead Labs could be working on that. However, fans also want the game on the Mac platform. The original was not made available to iOS devices.

Fans are expecting the developer to share some details on “State of Decay 2” game’s PC release on Steam. It is not known whether the game will hit the platform or not. Although Steam is clearly highlighted on its official website, the Undead Labs’ official website only mentions Xbox One and Windows PC support.

Fans on Undead Labs’ official game forum have demanded a Steam release for “State of Decay 2.” Limiting the game to Microsoft Store only could be a blunder as they are obviously more players on Steam than Microsoft Store. Moreover, Steam audience is highly targeted. Sales may not really take off if the game is released only on the Microsoft Store, writes The Bitbag.

The first “State of Decay” game was made available on Steam as an early access title in 2013. However, Microsoft may be thinking, as it now has a bigger audience, it would want Undead Labs to release the game on its own platform. Thus, there are chances that Microsoft won’t go with a Steam release from day one.

Microsoft may restrict “State of Decay 2” game’s availability for some time to boost up its own sales. There is also a possibility that the game may never be released on Steam as the release will be under the Play Anywhere program. People won’t mind buying “State of Decay 2” from the official store as players will be able to use the same disk both for PC as well as Xbox One.
