Blizzard has just announced "StarCraft Remastered." This is a remake of the 1998 Windows strategy game that started the company's "StarCraft" franchise. It appears fans can expect the new title in 2017.

The new version will include remastered graphics and audio for classic features of the game. These include better-looking units, environments and buildings. The remastered version also supports more resolutions, although these have not been elaborated.

The remastered game will feature improved cutscenes and more detailed visuals. The interludes in between missions will be stylized like comic books, and will be thematic per faction.

According to the "StarCraft" website, fans of the classic games can experience the same mechanics in the remastered version. The title will also retain its original story. This means players will go back to the Koprulu sector and relive the conflict between the Terran, Protoss and Zerg.

For a brief recap, the Terrans represent the humans from Earth. They are governed by the Confederacy. Its heroes include Marshal Jim Raynor and a psionic assassin named Sarah Kerrigan.

The Terrans have defensive structures and can be repaired very quickly. This makes the Terrans tough enemies to defeat in the end game.

The Protoss is a very ancient race. Its people are led by the Executor Artanis. He is on a quest to find his missing predecessor on a planet infested by the Zerg.

The Protoss have powerful individual units. Half their health bars are composed of shields that will regenerate over time. Unfortunately, players have to constantly construct Pylons in order to generate power for their buildings.

Lastly, the Zerg is a horrific swarm that is conquering the galaxy. The Zerg infests others planets and eats everything in its path.

Zerg units and buildings regenerate over time. Units also have the ability to conceal themselves. This makes Zerg units very tough opponents when they are in large numbers.

According to Game Rant, Blizzard will also be updating the "StarCraft: Brood War" game to its Patch 1.18. The update will be arriving before the end of March. The new patch will include features that will be part of the remastered "StarCraft" title.

These new features include anti-cheat systems, an observe mode, custom keybindings. Blizzard will also add a compatibility feature for Windows 7, 8.1 and 10.

However, the company also plans to make a "StarCraft Anthology." This collection will include the original "StarCraft" game and its "Brood War" expansion. The anthology will be completely free to download.

Blizzard has not announced an official release date for "StarCraft Remastered." However, the official website said it will be released within the year.
