Fans of the "Star Wars" franchise may get to see Obi-Wan Kenobi in at least three new movies, according to a new report. The character is very popular among the fans and has featured in both the movie trilogies as well as the animation series.

The three movies will reportedly be focussed on the time line between "Star Wars" episode 3 and episode 4. The report published on Cinelinx claims to have heard it from a source familiar with the developments. Readers are however advised to treat this information as a rumour at this point.

The first of the three movies will reportedly take place on the planet Tatooine, while the other two movies will involve Obi-Wan Kenobi travelling to other parts in the galaxy. The three movies are said to be stand alone movies and not part of a single continuing storyline.

The report points to the rumours about Obi-Wan movies featuring the Sith lord Darth Maul. Readers who have seen "Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace" will remember the character lost his legs and was presumed dead in the movie. The animation series of the franchise however showed him to be living with robotic legs and joining his brother to try and carve out his own empire.

The other popular character that may feature in the Obi-Wan movies is Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. The character was killed by Darth Maul in the movies. He appeared as a force ghost in the animation series and Yoda mentioned his return as a force ghost towards the end of "Star Wars" episode 3. Yoda had told Obi-Wan that he would teach him to communicate with Qui-Gon.

According to the report many of the characters who appeared in the animation series "Star wars: Clone Wars" will also feature in the upcoming movies. Some flash back scenes will reportedly involve Obi-Wan fighting in the Clone Wars.

Owen Lars, the man who raised Luke Skywalker, seen in the original "Star Wars" trilogy will also feature in the Obi-Wan Kenobi movies. Towards the end of the recent trilogy Luke was taken to Tatooine, which helped tie the storyline of both the movie trilogies.
