New details about the state of the galaxy at the beginning of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” have surfaced online. After the fragile peace between the New Republic and the First Order was shattered in the J.J. Abrams’ film, the fans can expect to see a full scale war now.

The following article contains minor spoilers from the upcoming Rian Johnson film. Fans who don’t want to know about how things stand in the galaxy at the beginning of the film should stop here.

There were gains and losses on both sides in “The Force Awakens.” According to a new report by Making Star Wars, sources have revealed that the setting in the movie now is that the galaxy is aware of the threat posed by the First Order. Before, there were people who used to laugh at the idea that Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) poses an imminent danger, but that will change now.

The galaxy now takes threat posed by Snoke and his followers seriously. The planets will soon have to pick a side, because like it or not they are at the start of another big war in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”

For years the two sides were in a cold war. Now, Snoke knows that what he was doing in secret is out in the open. So, he and his forces will have to fight a hot war. The loss of the Star killer base will handicap the First Order, but they are still strong enough to continue the fight.

General Organa (Leia) will no longer be alone in her fight against the First Order. However, with the devastating attack in “The Force Awakens” the government is crippled and in disarray. So, they can’t immediately mount a strong counter attack.

The report notes that the galaxy is aware that the First Order is coming to conquer their worlds. The situation appears to be reminiscent of the dark days of the Clone Wars.

The fans who have read the newly released canon novels know that not everyone in the galaxy believed the Empire to be all bad. There were mistakes made, but Snoke and the First Order want to correct those mistakes and build a better system as a replacement. So, just as it was during the Clone Wars there could be divided opinions.

There may be little scope for a truce in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” General Organa is determined to fight the First Order, and sees no other option.
