“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is expected to finally bring back Lando Calrissian. An upcoming canon novel gives some clues about where the viewers will find the character after such a long time.

Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) was the administrator of Cloud City. An excerpt from the upcoming book “Star Wars Aftermath: Empire’s End,” posted on Gizmodo, marks the return of the character. The novel is set in a time between “Return of the Jedi” and “The Force Awakens.”

In this period, the New Republic is in its early stages of rising to power while they battle the remnant forces of the Empire. In the Excerpt, Lando and his companion cyborg Lobot return to Cloud City.

The Empire had taken over the city, and left it in disrepair. The task of cleaning things up and returning Cloud City to its former glory falls on Lando. The novel has some real world references, with the former smuggler deciding to hire refugees while trying to rebuild.

It has been a long journey for Lando to retake the city. The New Republic didn’t give him troops to help liberate the city, and he had to do this all on his own. So in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” the character may be in full control of Cloud City.

During the time period of the novel, Leia (Carrie Fisher) is pregnant with Ben. Lando will have to pick a gift for his old friends’ baby. He has been too busy retaking Cloud City, and hasn’t been in touch much.

Lando remembers the fiery tempers of the two characters and hopes they have a cordial relationship. The novel may reveal more details about how the relationship of the couple soured over the years.

The plot of the book also takes the readers back to the once desolate planet of Jakku. The novel may reveal some back story of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis). Rey was left in the desert planet by her parents with a promise that they will return one day, however it wasn’t clear in “The Force Awakens” who the parents are and why they had to leave.

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is set to be released on Dec. 15 in Australia. The film is currently in the post production phase of development. The first trailer is expected to be released in April at the Celebrations event of the franchise.
