“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” star Daisy Ridley has already secured herself with at least three movies in the franchise, and now she might be landing another iconic role. The 23-year-old British actress is reportedly in the running to play Lara Croft, the character famously played by Angelina Jolie, in the “Tomb Raider” reboot.

Deadline reports that the movie newcomer could be cast in the Warner Bros and MGM film reboot. Talks to star Ridley are still in the early stage, and the role could still go to another actress.

Ridley is relatively new to the industry. She has a few minor television show guest appearances before starring in “Star Wars.” So if she got this role, she would have two iconic characters under her belt early on in her career. Although Jolie was already well-known and had multiple awards when she played Lara in the 2001 film “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,” the role propelled her stardom even higher.

Fans of both “Star Wars” and “Tomb Raider” wouldn’t be surprised if she got the role, though. Her name has been floating around whenever Netizens suggest a new successor for Jolie.

Popular suggestions included American actress Megan Fox -- who was the favourite to play the role some years past due to her resemblance to Jolie -- and English actresses Lily James (“Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”), Gemma Arterton (“Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters”), Emma Watson (“Harry Potter”), Hayley Atwell (“Agent Carter”), Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”), Felicity Jones (“The Theory of Everything”), and, until recently, Australian actress Margot Robbie (“Suicide Squad”).

The movie, based on the video game’s rebooted version in 2013, will see a younger Lara Croft as an archaeology student. Norwegian director Roar Uthaug will direct from the screenplay written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Gizmodo reports.

Ridley is currently shooting “Star Wars: Episode VIII.”
