Enthusiasts Andrew Ewing (L) and Dimitri Sharbonneau use lightsabers
The new crossguard lightsaber in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has endured so much scrutiny over its design ever since it was featured in the first official trailer released for the movie in November. Previous reports have even taken particular interest at the weapon’s tri-bladed hilt. The recently released teaser for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" revealed a different kind of lightsaber, which reports described as a cross-guard lightsaber. However, a supposed script reveals it wasn't initially created with the shape by its cyborg owner, said to be portrayed by Adam Driver.

A source for Galacticnewsone revealed the script for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" that details how the cross-guard lightsaber was created. While the reliability of the leak remains unclear, writer Silent Jay claims it comes from "the same source that awhile back released a ton of concept art from the film, which so far lines perfectly with what we saw in the teaser." Still, everything remains as a rumour until otherwise confirmed.

According to the leaked script for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Adam Driver plays as an "ambitious, force-sensitive pilot." The character will supposedly undergo a transformation that "only begins" in Episode VII. Likewise, the script claims he will also fall to the dark side and become a Sith.

The cross-guard lightsaber seen in the teaser allegedly belongs to Adam Driver. He created the lightsaber following his turn to the dark side. According to the site the weapon is referred to as a "junk" lightsaber in the script because of its different shape. However, according to Silent Jay "the decision to give his initial lightsaber a cross-guard was apparently made wholly by the art department." Additionally, the leaked script claims Adam Driver will be wearing a mask in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Half of the character's face is believed to be cyborg. Starwarsunderworld shared a photo of what the masked character may look.

Following his turn to the dark side, Adam Driver goes on a search to find a "powerful Sith." The latter will reportedly be played by Andy Serkis. Driver's search will supposedly take him to the "Scandanavian-esque forest world," much like what was seen in the teaser for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." He finally meets Serkis, a Sith described by the leaked script as someone who has existed for a very long time. Likewise, Serkis is believed to be "some kind of alien Sith exempt from the Rule of Two." After meeting the Sith, Adam Driver gets to receive or build a new weapon aside from the cross-guard lightsaber.
